Measurement Fiber Optic Dimensions

Measurement Fiber Optic Dimensions

In recent years, there has been a rapid rise in the capacity and speed of data communications based on next-generation standards and the development of infrastructure such as data centers that handle vast amounts of data. As a result, there has been an increase in demand for the optical connectors (MT ferrules) used to join optical fibers.
In recent years, demand is growing for high-bandwidth data transfers such as movies, necessitating high-precision MT ferrules to minimize loss of light at the connections. Sinto’s products are used in ferrule dimension control.

Measurements of MT ferrule

To minimize the loss of data transmitted by optic fibers, fiber cores with a diameter measuring approximately 1/100mm must be connected perfectly. This requires extremely high precision of both position and diameter in the processing of fiber holes in the MT ferrule.

Measurement Outline

Measurements of MT ferrule

MT ferrules are connected using 2 guide holes. Using a line between these two guide holes as a guide, the eccentricity (deviation) and diameters of each hole are measured.
